Urgent Action Needed: Department of Agriculture (USDA) Plans to Deregulate Genetically-Engineered Alfalfa to Impact & Alter Organic Food System

Seven years ago Monsanto petitioned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to deregulate GE alfalfa which would allow it to be planted anywhere. Now, within a few days, the USDA will announce its decision whether to grant their request and thereby unleash certain impact on organic farmers and the food system.

On Monday, January 24th, the decision will be made and the outcome shall set the precedent for other GE foods to follow.  If the public does not speak out and take a firm stance that organic farming is important and should be protected, the biotech firms will introduce genetically engineered foods that cannot be undone.

Then be sure to call your Congress representative and make your voice heard BEFORE Monday, January 24th.  It's really a matter of health and protecting our food supply.
